Journey Mexico published this Travel Weekly link on their twitter feed today, and I thought it would be useful for people to see that the main tourist areas are not classified as ‘hot spots’.

“To help our readers better understand where dangers really exist in Mexico and to demonstrate that most parts of the country — including all destinations popular with U.S. tourists — remain safe, we have created a map that presents the warning visually. Each named location contains a number key that refers to exact language about that location in the State Department’s warning.

The bottom line, as travel agents and wholesalers are well aware, is that all the most popular tourist areas are demonstrably safe. But just as you wouldn’t feel comfortable sending a client to certain neighborhoods of New York, Washington, Miami, Los Angeles or Dallas, there are parts of Mexico that you would be wise to have them avoid. Recognizing that expertise about any destination is a travel agent’s greatest asset, this map will continue to be updated with the most current information available to Travel Weekly.

Sunset Open House in Villa Encanto Bucerias, a resounding success!

To promote a sizeable reduction in price and bring its qualities to public attention, Pacific Boutique Properties recently opened Villa Encanto, located on the wide, sandy  Bucerias beach, to agencies and customers last Thursday. We have seen some important and very impressive price reductions on large luxury beachfront residences in the 1 to 3m dollar category, bringing one of our listings down from 1.5m to the “under 1m ” category at $899,000. 2012 – PBP takes off running!

Happy New Year to you all, and best for 2012.

Vallarta has been buzzing with tourists over Christmas and New Year, with the lucky ones staying on this week which is a little quieter since a lot of people with children have now gone back home for the start of term.

We have had an incredible amount of showings over the past two weeks, the majority with Mexican buyers from out of town (Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, and Mexico City) as well as of course Canadians and Americans.

Interestingly, we have seen an marked increase in  interest in high end section of the market, 1m USD up to 4m USD,  which is the segment of the market which had seen the least amount of activity last year. Some fairly substantial  price reductions on the high end  homes,  as well as some  ‘fire sale pricing’ or ‘priced to sell’ on other properties  across the price spectrum mean buyers are seeing the value to be had and writing offer accordingly.

Even making appointments this week for homes 1m USD and up is a challenge with most of them still rented or already booked up for showings.

‘Moda es Mexico’ Fashion Show at 3.14 Plaza this Saturday night.

Nuevo Vallarta Events – Half Marathon and Grand Velas Red Cross/ Festival Gourmet dinner.

Now that Vallarta is cooling down and the stream of visitors steadily increasing, November marks the start of the high season with a number of fun events in the area.

New Road to Punta Mita finally underway!

For nearly 8 years there has been talk about a new road along the north shore of Banderas Bay and locals and tourists have been hoping things will get underway. Great news! Last week, construction began on the new stretch of highway running between La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta de Mita. This large investment totaling $250 million pesos will complete a four-lane highway that will run 7.4 kilometers.
This is great news for the Punta Mita area. Punta Mita has been a hot spot lately for celebrities with Charlie Sheen, Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga enjoying our beaches) and this influx of funding into the infrastructure votes well for the future of Punta Mita real estate.
Pacific Boutique Properties has seen an increased demand in Punta Mita rental requests as well as interest in Punta Mita real estate. The area continues to be recognized as a great vacation and second home destination. This road will be a great asset to the continued growth in the area.
Construction is estimated to take just over 8 months, placing its estimated completion date at late April 2012. The investment of $250 million pesos has been provided entirely by the state government of Nayarit.

Virgin America Flights

As announced this July 2011, Virgin America, California’s hometown airline, announces its intent to launch flights from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) in Mexico. This is a great opportunity to access Bucarias and we anticipate this will have an impact on both Bucerias real estate for sale and Bucerias rentals available. We are thrilled that there is increased International support for the area.
Virgin America files this July with the U.S. Department of Transportation for the authority to fly to PVR and subject to approval from both the U.S. DOT and the Mexican government, the airline plans to begin flying to Puerto Vallarta this winter.

Junior Fishing Tournament in La Cruz a great success

Pacific Boutique Properties was proud to sponsor this weekend’s Fishing Tournament for Children.
A mixture of local children and visitors enjoyed a morning fishing yesterday at the La Cruz Marina.
This is an annual competition for children between the ages of 4 and 12 to try their hand at fishing, for the chance to win bicycles and toys.
This ‘catch and release’ tournament is in its third year, see you there next year!
